Eric B. Strachan is
the fourth son of Camille J. Strachan and the late Duncan Strachan. He
is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans, Louisiana)
and of Louisiana State University, where he majored in History, with
minors in Political Science and English.
Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson hired Eric in 2007 after his help with her
successful campaign for the At-Large seat. He began as her Director of
Constituent Affairs, and was promoted to Legislative Aide in
2008. With Jackie, Eric helped craft contributions to both the Master
Plan and the Office of Inspector General charter changes.
Soon after Jackie's successful re-election campaign in 2010, he left
politics for a job in the financial sector. He soon returned, however,
when District B Councilperson Stacy Head asked Eric to join her office
as Chief of Staff. Eric served in this capacity until
Stacy's own successful At-Large campaign. He placed 3rd in the race to
fill Stacy's vacant District B seat, which LaToya Cantrell went on to
win in the runoff.
Eric has served on the boards of the Coliseum Square Association, the
St. Charles Avenue Assoc., and the Vieux Carre Property Owners,
Residents and Associates – VCPORA, and numerous organizations
city-wide. He is now a political consultant.
